Helmut Petzsch.

Helmut Petzsch; 1920 – 2008, German artist born in Berlin. Petzsch and his family moved to Scotland in 1933 to escape persecution by the Nazi's. He was interned during the war but on his release he studied at the Edinburgh College of Art.He was taught and greatly influenced by Sir William Gillies, He also taught and exhibited regularly at the Royal Scottish Academy and the society of Scottish Artists.

An atmospheric original etching which is bright and unfaded in black ink with fine detail and plate toning. The image size measuring approximately 11 cms. x 9 cms. (4½ x 3½ ins.) within a strong platemark and impression on a wove paper sheet size 19 cms x 14 cms.(7½ x 5½ ins.)

Signed in pencil by the artist in the lower margin.

Unframed and unmounted, blank on the reverse, the condition of the image and the sheet is good with handling marks condusive with age.
