Johannes or Jan Luyken; April 16, 1649 - April 5, 1712, Dutch poet, illustrator and engraver, was a very important etcher in the period after Rembrandt. His artistry is distinguished by its clarity and detail.
A fine museum quality engraving which is bright and unfaded with black ink lines and detail, the image measuring approximately 15 cms. x 11 cms. (6 x 4¼ ins.) within a fine but evident platemark and impression on an early laid paper sheet, size 17 cms. x 13 cms. (7 x 5 ins.) with makers watermark.
Signed; Jan Luyken invenit et fecit in the lower margin.
