John Lysaght (Lysaught )Moore; 1897-1965, artist and printmaker born in New Zealand and who was part of the close-knit community of York Bay, near Eastbourne, across the harbour from Wellington. He was born and spent his childhood in Taranaki, later moving with his mother to Havelock North in Hawkes Bay. He studied under Dorothy Richmond and Linley Richardson and in the 1920s he studied art at Goldsmith's College in London and Rome. On his return to New Zealand in the late 1920s, Moore travelled around New Zealand with artist Esmond Atkinson on camping painting trips. In 1937 he bought a house in York Bay.
An original print which is bright and unfaded in coloured inks.
The image measuring approximately 27 cms. x 19 cms. (10½ x 7½ ins.) on a wove paper sheet 29 cms. x 23 cms. (11½ x 9 ins.)
Titled and pencil signed beneath the image, with the edition 116/500 also in pencil.

Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image and the sheet is good with paper hanger remanants to the reverse top edge.
