Kaiko Moti

A limited edition print number 20 from an edition of only 100 impressions.

Kaiko Moti: 1921-1989, Indian, born in Bombay, attended the Bombay School of Fine Arts, he moved to London in 1946 and continued his art studies at the Slade School of Art of the University College receiving his Masters Degree in painting and sculpture. In 1950 Moti moved to Paris, where he studied sculpture under Ossip Zadkine. Lack of space in Paris caused Moti to turn from sculpture to printmaking and studied at Atelier 17 with Stanley Hayter. Moti also taught at the University of Wisconsin.

An original etching which is bright and unfaded, with rich raised intaglio ink lines,  fine detail and plate tone, the image size measuring approximately 34 cms. x 24 cms. (13  x 9½  ins.) within a strong platemark and impression, on a wove paper sheet, measuring 40 cms. x 30 cms. (15¾ x 12 ins.)

Signed in pencil by the artist with the edition 20/100 in the lower margin.

Unframed and unmounted, blank on the reverse, the condition of the image and sheet is good with handling marks condusive with age.
