Laurence Davis; British, 19th – 20th century, female. Born 4 November 1879, in London. Painter, engraver, illustrator. Genre scenes. Listed in the Benezit Dictionary of British Graphic Artists and Illustrators.
Laurence Davis exhibited genre scenes at the Royal Academy in 1899 and 1901. She also exhibited in Berlin.
A very fine etching, which is bright and unfaded, with black intaglio ink lines and very fine detail and plate tone, the image size measuring approximately 25 cms. x 18 cms. (10 x 7 ins.) within a strong platemark and impression on a wove paper sheet size of 32 cms. x 25 cms. (12½ x 10 ins.)
Titled and signed by the artist in pencil in the lower margin.
The condition of the image and sheet is very good with handling marks condusive with age.
