Léon Richeton

Leon Richeton; Birmingham 1854 - London 1934; listed etcher, lived in London, elected a Fellow of Haden’s Society of Painter-Etchers May 1881 and his membership ceased November 1889. He produced works for P.G. Hamerton’s The Portfolio and he also produced an etched portrait of Thomas Carlyle.

An original etching, which is bright and unfaded, in sanguine red/brown ink with very fine detail and plate tone, the image measuring approximately 14 cms. x 18 cms. (x 7 ins.) printed within a fine but evident platemark and impression on a laid paper sheet 23 cms. x 33 cms. (9  x 13 ins.).

Signed by the artist in pencil in the lower margin.

The condition of the image and sheet is good with a small repaired pinhole and handling marks condusive with age.
