Leon Underwood; 1890-1975; British sculptor, painter, draughtsman and engraver as well as a writer and illustrator, scholar, teacher, philosopher and stained glass and furniture craftsman. He attended the Slade School of Art and founded the magazine The Island in 1931. His work was influenced by African and Cycladic designs.
This fine engraving is bright and unfaded in black ink. The image measuring approximately 12 cms. x 18 cms. (5  x 7 ins.) printed on a lightweight laid paper sheet size 22 cms. x 32 cms. (8½ x 12½  ins.) with full margins.
Unframed, unmounted and blank on the reverse, the condition of the image and sheet is good with handling marks condusive with age.
