Louis Auguste Mathieu Legrand; 1863-1951, French artist, known especially for his aquatint engravings, which were sometimes erotic. He was awarded the Légion d'honneur for his work in 1906. In 1884 Legrand studied engraving under the Belgian printmaker Félicien Rops.
This fine etching with drypoint is bright and unfaded in black ink. The image printed within a strong platemark and impression printed on a wove paper sheet size 17 cms. x 25 cms. (6½ x 10 ins.)
Plate signed by the artist.
Unframed, unmounted and blank on the reverse, the condition of the image and sheet is good with two repaired tears into the right margin and handling marks condusive with age.
