Print number 31 of a very small edition of only 70 impressions.
Norman Wade; English painter and artist. Throuhout the 1970s Norman and Moira Wade’s art shop brought a touch of bohemia to Durham City centre. Norman was born in London and trained as a graphic designer. After he met Moira, who worked in the art trade, the couple moved north, initially to the Lakes, where he pursued a career as an artist. After a spell in Gosforth, Newcastle, they moved to Low Etherley in Bishop Auckland. This period saw Norman develop his own distinctive style using various printing techniques creating unusual textures and patterns. He concentrated on images of buildings and landscapes across the North of England, but in particular, scenes of Durham Cathedral.
An original print which is bright and unfaded in coloured inks. The image measuring approximately 58 cms. x 51 cms. (23 x 20 ins.) printed on a wove paper sheet measuring 47 cms. x 63 cms. (18½ x 24½ ins.) with full margins. This item will be shipped rolled.
Signed and titled in pencil by the artist in the lower margin with the edition 31/70 also in pencil.
Unframed and unmounted, blank on the reverse, the condition of the image and sheet is very good with handling marks condusive with age.
