A stunning study in the use of the etchers burin with rich use of ink in the shadows and roof tiles on the houses in the foreground, all the way through the various depths of ink intensity to the delicate etching and fine artwork of the tower in the background.
Percy J. Westwood; 1878–1958, listed British artist, etcher and architect. Exhibited 1915-40, at the Royal Academy, Paris Salon and elsewhere. Lived in London and Weybridge.
This superb etching is bright and unfaded in black ink, the image measuring 15 cms. x 30 cms. (6 x 12 ins.) within a strong platemark and impression, on a wove paper sheet size measuring 26 cms. x 41 cms. (10¼ x 16 ins.) with makers watermark.
Signed and titled in pencil beneath the image.
Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image is excellent and the sheet is very good with light foxing to the right margin.
