Richard Heintz

Richard Heintz; 1871-1929, Belgian Impressionist painter, born at Herstal, and died in Sy (commune of Ferrières ), nicknamed 'The Master of Sy' or 'The Teacher without school'. He is the landscape painter of the Ardennes massif and can be considered as one of the most important Liège artists of his generation.

An original etching, which has retained its excellent colouring, in rich brown ink, bright and unfaded, with excellent detail and plate tone.

The image printed within a strong platemark and impression printed on a wove paper sheet size 25 cms. x 19 cms, (10 x ins.)

Signed and titled by the artist in pencil in the lower margin and signed in the image.

Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image and the sheet is good with a small repaired puncture and handling marks condusive with age.
