‘Ashford Bridge on the Medway’
Richard Samuel Chattock; British; 1825 -1906; landscape etcher and painter, Richard exhibited at the Royal Academy and was well known for his work in oils, Chattock achieved greater recognition for his original etchings and was a frequent contributor to The Portfolio and The Etcher. He was also the author of 'Practical Notes on Etching' and was a full member of the Royal Engravers.
A fine etching which is bright and unfaded, with excellent intaglio ink lines and fine detail in dark brown ink. The image size measuring approximately 19 cms. x 23 cms. (7½ x 9½ ins.) on a wove paper sheet size 22 cms. x 28 cms. (8½ x 11 ins.)

Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image and sheet is good with handling marks condusive with age.
