Robert Walker Macbeth , 1848-1910. Scottish painter, etcher and watercolourist, specialising in pastoral landscape and the rustic genre scenes in the tradition begun by George Hemming Mason and Fred Walker, and had a unique etching style, very different from Haden or Whistler. Painter of genre and outdoor contemporary scenes, born in Glasgow, the son of the Scottish portraitist Norman Macbeth RSA, coming to London after studying at the R.S.A Schools.
A sepia etching which is bright and unfaded with excellent tonal qualities and raised dark sepia ink lines and fine detail, the image size measuring approximately 28 cms. x 15 cms. (11 x 6 ins.) on medium paper sheet size of 32 cms. x 22 cms.(13 x 9 ins.)
Signed with the artists initials with the date in the image.
Unframed and unmounted, blank on the reverse the condition of the image and the sheet is fair with some foxing to the margin and handling marks condusive with age.
