Sidney Horne Shepherd
Sidney Horne Shepherd; 1909-1993. Born in Dundee and educated at Harris Academy, Sidney D’Horne Shepherd attended Dundee School of Art and Glasgow School of Art. He was a lecturer at Shoreditch Training College until joining the National Fire Service. He was drafted by The Ministry of Labour to Napiers Aircraft Factory in Acton working as a technical assistant, aero-engine tester and draughtsman before returning to Shoreditch. He was teacher at Ealing School of Art, St Martin’s School of Art and the St John Cass School of Art.
A superb print which is bright and unfaded in coloured inks. The image measuring approximately 39 cms. x 28 cms. (15 x 11 ins.) within a stone impression on a wove paper sheet measuring 44 cms. x 35 cms. (17½ x 14 ins.)
Signed and titled by the artist in pencil below the image.
Unframed and unmounted, blank on the reverse, the condition of the image and sheet is good with handling marks condusive with age.
