William Monk; 1863-1937, One of England's most famous architectural etchers of the late nineteenth and century. William studied art in his native Chester and then completed his education at the Royal Academy in Antwerp, he created over one hundred original etchings during his career, most being views of London, New York, Eton, Winchester and Durham. He was elected a full member of the Royal Engravers.

An original etching, bright and unfaded, with rich black ink lines and fine detail, shading and plate tone, the image printed within a strong impression and platemark on a laid paper sheet, measuring approximately 28 cms. x 20 cms. (11 x 8 ins)

Signe in the image with the artists monogram.

Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image and sheet is very good, with handling marks condusive with age.
